The Sobakawa Cloud Pillow is an “As Seen On TV” product. The makers of the pillow claim it alleviates pain in the neck and shoulders because it is not made as a traditional pillow but instead is filled with millions of beads the company calls air beads. Claims for the pillow state it provides firm support and adequate airflow that keeps the head cool while using it.
This pillow only comes in white. A specific case must be used with this pillow and can be ordered with it but if ordered from the Sobakawa site one free pillow case will accompany each pillow ordered. The standard sized pillow measures 12 and 5/8 inches by 15 and 7/8 inches in size.
For customers that desire a larger pillow the company offers two additional sizes. The second size, called a full sized pillow, measures 14 and 5/8 inches by 20 and 7/8 inches. The largest pillow available is the King/Queen sized pillow and measures 17 and 3/8 inches by 22 and 1/4 inches. The standard sized pillow, which the company refers to as the Original pillow, is currently available as a buy one get one free offer, for the price of $19.99 plus $7.95 for shipping and handling.
The full sized pillow and the queen/king sized pillow are not available in the buy one get one free promotion. The full sized pillow is available for $29.99 with a shipping and handling cost of $7.95. Finally the largest of the three sizes is available for $39.99 with a shipping and handling cost of $7.95 as well. All the previously mentioned prices and information is that which is listed on the website: https://www.buythepillow.com/
The Sobakawa Cloud Pillow can also be purchased in many other places including several vendors offering it on Amazon.com as well as being available for purchase in store and online through the mass retailer, Walmart. On the Amazon website the pillow can be found for $26.99 through the vendor TheAsSeenOnTVGuys.
Shipping and handling is extra and added during check out. Walmart offers the pillow through their website for the price of $19.88 plus the cost of shipping and handling, which like Amazon is based on shipping distance and added during the checkout process.
The many benefits the pillow allegedly possesses include the firm support of millions of air beads. These synthetic beads fill the pillow providing support to the head and neck and unlike a traditional pillow they do not need to be fluffed during the night. Instead these beads will move with the movement of the users head to provide continuous and uninterrupted support. This is said to relieve chronic neck and shoulder pain caused by inefficient support of traditional pillows.
Using these micro beads instead of traditional pillow filling, or even the new trends in foam pillows, supposedly adds to the benefits of the pillow because dust mites and allergens cannot grow and accumulate. The claims also include being a recommendation for people who suffer from allergies and asthma as the micro beads cannot harbor microorganisms that trigger symptoms of these conditions. Another benefit said to be attributable to the use of beads instead of traditional fabrics is the increased airflow.
The additional amount of air able to move through the pillow itself theoretically keeps the materials cooler and therefore alleviates increased perspiration normally caused by heat trapped in pillow materials. The benefits claimed don’t stop there either. Most importantly all of these benefits combined should contribute to a longer, more restful night’s sleep for the user.
The statements made by the makers of the Sobakawa Cloud Pillow sound wonderful. However the reviews posted on sites like Walmart’s or Amazon tell a much different story. There are some customers that have praised this product for meeting or exceeding all claims and expectations but there are far more customers whom claim the pillow to be of inferior quality.
Many of the customer reviews found on Amazon report the pillow to carry a very offensive chemical odor they were unable to ignore or diffuse. Other reviews state the cooler feel and claim of increased airflow causing less perspiration to be false. The average customer rating for this product is very poor.
